Academy Sports and Outdoors comes to downtown Jeffersonville

Sports + Outdoors Academy lets new customers inside this week as it opens another store in the Louisville area.

The new Academy Sports + Outdoors in Jeffersonville at 1600 Veterans Parkway is set to host a grand opening this weekend to commemorate the opening of a mall in the southern Indiana city. It will mark the sporting goods chain’s third location in the area, joining an outlet at Louisville’s Jefferson Mall (4901 Outer Loop) and a store in Middletown at 13401 Shelbyville Road. It’s the sixth of nine openings planned for the Texas-based retailer this year across the country.

“Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to serve the communities of Jeffersonville and Clarksville and provide customers with the equipment that makes having fun easy and affordable,” said Sam Johnson, executive vice president of operations at Academy retail. “We look forward to helping guests explore their athletic and outdoor passions, whether it’s biking the Big Four Bridge, hiking Clark State Forest, or hiking. prepare for the next hunting season.”

The new store will bring customers to Jeffersonville Town Center, a mall with several other stores that have opened over the past year, including Hobby Lobby, Burlington, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Five Below.

Customers can expect to find an assortment of branded merchandise when shopping at Academy, including Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Brooks, Wilson, Carhartt, Columbia and North Face.

Other private label brands the store will stock include Magellan Outdoors and Freely, ROW, as well as BCG, H2O Xpress, Mosaic and O’Rageous. They offer outdoor and workout clothing and equipment as well as outdoor furniture and other sports gear, including fishing gear.

“No matter the hunting, fishing or camping occasion, local outdoor enthusiasts can rely on the knowledgeable members of the Academy team, a wide assortment of products, top brands and unbeatable prices that fit any budget,” a company statement read.

The grand opening scheduled for the weekend will last between Friday and Sunday, according to the company, and will include a festival with prizes, games and an in-store scavenger hunt, as well as free food. The company said several offers and discounts will also be available, including:

  • $100 off Outdoor Gourmet 4-Burner Gas Grills;
  • 20% discount on all bikes, with free assembly;
  • Buy one and get one 50% off select apparel and headwear;
  • and 20% off all rods, reels and combos.

Jeffersonville Sports + Outdoors Academy will be open seven days a week at the following times:

  • Sunday to Thursday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
