Back in black! Capitals debut new reverse retro uniforms tonight


The Capitals return home tonight and start a four-game home game when they host the Arizona Coyotes at Capital One Arena. The game will also feature the debut of the team’s latest “Reverse Retro” uniforms.

“We’re thrilled to unveil this year’s Capitals Reverse Retro Jersey featuring adidas and the NHL and pay homage to our first rebrand and such an important time in our team’s history,” said Hunter Lochmann, Director. Monumental Sports & Entertainment marketing, in a statement.

In addition to tonight, the team will wear the new uniforms on November 25 against the Calgary Flames, December 9 against the Seattle Kraken, December 23 against the Winnipeg Jets, December 31 against the Montreal Canadiens, the January 3 against the Canadiens. Buffalo Sabers, Jan. 14 vs. Philadelphia Flyers.

“Following the success of our popular first Reverse Retro jersey in the red color scheme with the howling eagle, we wanted to merge our original jerseys introduced in 1995 with the design. We are not only thrilled to see their debut at Capital One Arena November 5, but also stepping back in time throughout the season with a related themed party, lineup and giveaways for all arenas that celebrate the jersey and its history.Most importantly, unlike 2020, the fans will be able to see these awesome howling eagle jerseys in person at Capital One Arena.

The Capitals wore black uniforms from 1997 to 2007 before changing their name to their current uniforms.

The uniform will come with black pants and socks, which the players have been wearing in recent practices.

They will be available from Tuesday, November 15.
