Bobbito Garcia x Omar Acosta ARO1 Boriken NFT collection release date

In the wake of Adidas which announced its first NFT collection yesterday, the famous sneaker figure Bobbito Garcia has teamed up with the famous designer Omar Acosta to offer his own collection of virtual shoes.

For this capsule, Bobbito and Acosta have created an original model of NFT sneaker called ARO1 Boriken to commemorate the 126th anniversary of the Puerto Rican flag, which will be observed on December 22, 2021. Available in limited quantities, the digital shoe will be available in five different colorways and will feature the La Borinqueña comic strip created by Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez. Proceeds from sales will benefit Afro Boricua grassroots organizations.

“My collaborations with Nike, Adidas and Puma have all retailed, but making 3D animated digital sneakers as NFTs takes it to the next level,” Bobbito said. “There is no creative limitation on the part of the brand leaders! In addition, I design with my dear friend Omar Acosta who has made projects for Mercedes Benz, Louis Vuitton, Wu-Tang, etc. We’re both Puerto Rican, so naturally we wanted to pay homage to our flag’s anniversary this month with our first creation. The ARO1 model is where sneakers, art, design, technology, cultural pride and independent ownership as well as distribution meet. The opportunities for artists / designers as well as shoe enthusiasts are wide open. I am amplified!

The ARO1 Boriken NFT collection from Bobbito and Acosta is available now on Opensea.io. Take a closer look at each of the virtual sneakers below.
