Atlanta police are working to track down a driver who hit a teenage girl and seriously injured her.

It happened in the Virginia Highland neighborhood more than a week ago, but Kat Bergstrom remains hospitalized in Grady’s burn unit.

Kat’s father said his daughter was hit near the intersection of Lanier Boulevard and North Virginia Avenue on November 7. During the hit-and-run, he said she was dragged more than 60 feet.

Mick Bergstrom and his wife are living a parent’s worst nightmare. Their 17-year-old daughter needs several surgeries.

“They hit her, they knew they hit her,” Mick said. “They dragged her 20 meters on the asphalt and left her to die.”

The jeans and sneakers Kat wore when she was on drugs during the hit-and-run.

From: Supplied

Kat was wearing jeans and Adidas shoes when she was hit. Both are now in tatters. Her mother said blue jeans fibers could be seen in the streak marks on the road in the days after the hit-and-run.

Atlanta police released video of the incident near the intersection of Lanier Boulevard and North Virginia Avenue. It showed the light-colored SUV that investigators believe was involved in the hit-and-run just after 11:30 p.m.

“Looking at the videos, you can see when she gets hit, you can see the car kind of jars, and then you can hear her do drugs,” Mick said.

The Bergstroms asked locals to check their cameras for footage, hoping they might get another glimpse of this car.

Mick said the person responsible must be caught and held accountable for what they did.

“You hit somebody, you stop and you deal with it,” he said. “You don’t knowingly drag them 20 yards and just leave them.”

While Kat’s injuries were severe, Mick was grateful it wasn’t worse.

“I keep telling him, ‘Kat, I know you’re unlucky, but you’re alive and these are life-threatening injuries,'” Mick said.

Police and family are asking anyone with information or video to call investigators.

Olivia Wilde brought sharp style to the gym for a Thursday afternoon workout in Los Angeles.

Wilde wore a tonal workout ensemble. The Independent Spirit Award-winning star donned a white hoodie for the occasion, featuring blue, red and pink stripes with a pink drawstring closure. The stretchy black leggings provided an equally sporty complement, ideal for exercise and movement throughout the day. Wilde’s workout outfit was complemented with brown and black shaded sunglasses, along with small earrings and a yellow tote bag.

As for shoes, Wilde stuck to a set of Adidas sneakers. Its $150 Ultraboost style featured monochromatic black Primeknit uppers, with a lace-up silhouette. Molded heel counters and rubber soles finished the ensemble, providing an added sporty finish to Wilde’s ensemble when worn with her coordinating leggings.

There’s a new sheriff in town at Adidas.

Bjørn Gulden, who was previously confirmed to be in the mix for the top job at Adidas, officially assumes the role of CEO effective January 1, 2023. Gulden, who stepped down as CEO from rival Puma last week will also be a board member of Adidas.

Outgoing Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted will leave the company on November 11 after initially announcing his intention to step down next year.

Adidas AG Chief Financial Officer Harm Ohlmeyer will lead the company on an interim basis until December 31, 2022.

Arne Freundt, who was originally scheduled to succeed Gulden as CEO and President of Puma SE effective January 1, 2023, now takes the reins of both gigs immediately.

Gulden, 57, had been CEO of Puma since 2013 but is making a long-awaited return to Adidas, where he served as senior vice president of apparel and accessories from 1992 to 1999.

Gulden’s extensive resume shows a recent focus on the fashion and apparel sectors, as the executive was CEO of Danish jewelry brand Pandora from 2011 to 2013 before his tenure at Puma. And in the previous decade, he was managing director of Europe’s largest shoe retailer, Deichmann, and also president of the US subsidiary Rack Room Shoes. He has also held various management positions with outdoor clothing company Helly Hansen and is currently Chairman of the Board of Salling Group, Denmark’s largest food retailer.

“We are very happy to welcome Bjørn Gulden back to Adidas. Bjørn Gulden brings nearly 30 years of experience in the sporting goods and footwear industry,” said Thomas Rabe, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Adidas AG. “As a result, he knows the industry extremely well and draws on a rich network in sport and retail. Bjørn Gulden already served Adidas successfully for seven years in the 1990s. As CEO of Puma, he reinvigorated the brand and led the company to record results. The Supervisory Board of Adidas AG is convinced that Bjørn Gulden will lead Adidas into a new era of strength and looks forward to a fruitful cooperation.

Gulden now has a major task to right the ship at Adidas, which hasn’t had a smooth ride this year. The company has cut ties with shoe partner Yeezy Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, following a series of anti-Semitic remarks by the hip-hop artist and designer. The Yeezy split is expected to cost Adidas around 250 million euros ($248 million). Morningstar analyst David Swartz estimates that the Yeezy brand brings in nearly $2 billion in revenue annually. The fallout from Ye was so damaging that one of Yeezy’s suppliers had to lay off 142 of its roughly 200 employees.

Then there are the sportswear brand’s known struggles in China, where preliminary currency-neutral sales fell to a “strong double-digit rate” for the third quarter. In the prior period, Adidas saw its currency-neutral sales in the region drop by 35.1%. Like Nike, the problems in China go a long way, most recently due to the country’s zero-Covid lockdown policies that wiped out foot traffic in many physical stores. Throughout the pandemic, the two companies have also felt the heat of consumer boycotts after speaking out about cotton sourcing in China’s Xinjiang region, where evidence suggests forced labor is rampant.

Adidas also incurred more than $300 million in expenses when it left Russia earlier this year after the country invaded Ukraine.

If Puma’s recent performances are any indication, Gulden appears to be up for the challenge. Puma’s third-quarter sales rose 23.9% to 2.35 billion euros ($2.33 billion), with net profit rising 1.8% to 146.4 million euros ($145 billion). millions of dollars). Adidas’ revenue growth in the same quarter was only half that of Puma, up 11% to 6.41 billion euros ($6.27 billion). Net income fell dramatically amid the Russia exit to 179 million euros ($175.1 million), down from 2021’s 479 million euros ($468.6 million ). And while Adidas has cut its forecast three times this year citing global headwinds, Puma reiterated its full-year outlook in October three months after raising its revenue forecast.

Rabe thanked Rørsted in a statement, listing some of the outgoing executive’s most notable achievements during his six-year tenure as chief executive.

“We would like to thank Kasper Rørsted for his major achievements at Adidas. He strategically repositioned the company and accelerated its digital transformation,” said Rabe. “In North America, the largest sporting goods market in the world, Adidas doubled its sales. Additionally, Adidas strengthened its leadership position in sustainability and increased diversity, equity and inclusion across the company. Following the successful divestiture of TaylorMade, CCM Hockey and Reebok, the company is now able to focus its efforts on its flagship Adidas brand. We wish Kasper Rørsted all the best for his future endeavours.

Two institutional investors who have stakes in Adidas backed the move ahead of Gulden’s formal appointment as CEO. Ingo Speich, head of corporate governance at German asset management firm Deka Investment, told Bloomberg that Gulden is “a blessing to Adidas”, saying he “brings the necessary skills to markets and markets capital”. Thomas Joekel, fund manager at Union Investments, told the outlet that Gulden “would be an ideal successor.”

Adidas stock rose about 3% in Tuesday morning trading following the C-suite news. Shares soared as much as 25% last Friday after the company confirmed Gulden was in talks to become CEO.

Six Evergreen businesses were robbed between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2, according to the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office.

Parkside Café and Evergreen Cleaners in Bergen Park, as well as Morning Star Jewelers in Evergreen Safeway Mall were robbed on Halloween, while Coal Mine Dragon, Bistro Del Lago and Everbean, all located at Lakepoint Center on Upper Bear Creek Road , were robbed on November 2.

Jacki Kelley, a spokeswoman for the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office, said investigators are unsure if all six are connected, but the method of entry is the same for all but the jewelry store burglary. Windows were smashed to enter the five businesses, and the perpetrators targeted cash registers. At the jewelry store, the door was forced open, several glass jewelry boxes were smashed, and large amounts of jewelry were stolen.

Morning Star had cameras and the sheriff’s office has photos of the person who entered the store, Kelley said. Photos show the person is fully covered except for a backpack and shoes, and she hopes someone can identify the person. Anyone with tips can call 303-271-5612.

The jewelry store robbery suspect appears to have a slim build, wearing skinny jeans, a dark-colored jacket with a hood, and dark-colored Adidas shoes with white stripes. The suspect’s backpack has distinct dark-colored ribbing, Kelley said.

“We’ve arrested suspects before with very little information about their appearance,” she said. “If you see someone with a lot of jewelry or a lot of cash, call the tip line.”

According to the owners of Coal Mine Dragon, the burglars took the cash register and its contents, and this is the first time their restaurant has been robbed in the 36 years they have been in business in Evergreen. They are happy that the restaurant is empty and no one has been injured.

disney and adidas tug at the nostalgic strings with the release of a special capsule collection to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the childhood favorite hockey classic, The Mighty Ducks. With adidas as the official NHL, Disney has teamed up with the sportswear brand to release original jerseys from the 1992 film.

Although the jerseys are not worn by the Anaheim Ducks or the Chicago Blackhawks, fans will be able to purchase the commemorative items for a limited time. In addition to the classic jerseys, adidas is also releasing a selection of adidas ULTRABOOST trainers inspired by the Ducks and Hawks color combinations. The adidas ULTRABOOST 1.0 DNA gets three new colorways, two of which match the Ducks colors of green, gold and dark purple, and one which sees the shoe dressed in black, white and detailed in blue for the Hawks.

The 1992 film had two additional sequels, one in 1994 and one in 1996. It was such a hit that there was also a spin-off anime series titled, Mighty Ducks: The Animated Show. adidas describes the collaboration with Disney as “30 years of creation”. The jerseys are also live for a limited time on NHL 23. There is currently no official date as to when adidas will release these jerseys for purchase.

The split will leave Adidas looking for another transcendent celebrity to help it compete with ever-bigger rival Nike, but will likely prove even more costly for Ye, as the rapper is now known. The sneaker giant has become the latest company to cut ties with Ye, whose music career is on the decline as he courts controversy.

Adidas said it expects to hit up to 250 million euros ($246 million) in net profit this year following the decision to immediately halt production of its Yeezy product line and stop payments to Ye and his companies. Its shares closed more than 2% on Tuesday.

“Adidas does not tolerate anti-Semitism and any other type of hate speech,” the company said in a statement Tuesday. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”

For weeks, Ye has made anti-Semitic comments in interviews and on social media, including a post on Twitter earlier this month that he was soon to perform “Death Con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,” an apparent reference to the scale of American defense readiness conditions known as DEFCON. He was suspended from Twitter and Instagram.

Ye expressed regret in an interview with podcaster Lex Fridman posted online Monday, in which he called his initial tweet a mistake and apologized to “the Jewish community.” An email message sent to a Ye representative was not immediately returned.

Adidas stuck with Ye through further controversies over his remarks on slavery and COVID-19 vaccines. But Ye’s anti-Semitic comments have reignited the company’s past ties to the Nazi regime that the company had worked to leave behind. The World Jewish Congress noted that during World War II, Adidas factories “produced supplies and weapons for the Nazi regime, using slave labor.”

Jewish groups said the decision to abandon Ye was overdue.

“I would have liked a clear position earlier from a German company that was also involved in the Nazi regime,” said Josef Schuster, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, the main Jewish group in the country where Adidas at his seat.

Adidas, whose CEO Kasper Rorsted will step down next year, said it made its decision after conducting a “thorough review” of its partnership with Ye, whose talent agency, CAA, as well as fashion house Balenciaga had already abandoned the rapper. In the hours leading up to the announcement, some Adidas employees in the United States had denounced the company’s inaction on social media.

Despite the growing controversy, Allen Adamson, co-founder of marketing consultancy Metaforce, believes Adidas’ late response was “understandable”.

“The positives are so big in terms of the audience it’s aimed at — younger, urban, trend setters, company size,” Adamson said. “I’m sure they were hoping against hope that he would apologize and try to make this right.”

Adidas won’t release Yeezy sales figures, but the impact will be more severe than expected given the brand has ended production of all Yeezy products and ceased royalty payments, Morningstar analyst says David Swartz in a note published Tuesday.

Swartz predicts that Adidas’ overall revenue will reach 23.2 billion euros ($23.1 billion) this year, with the Yeezy brand generating 1.5-2 billion euros ($1.99 billion), i.e. nearly 10% of the total. The expensive brand accounts for up to 15% of the company’s net income, Swartz said.

Forbes estimated that Adidas accounted for $1.5 billion of Ye’s net worth and without the deal it will drop to $400 million, including his music catalog, real estate, cash and a stake. in ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shapewear company, Skims. Forbes said it will no longer include Ye on its list of billionaires, although the rapper has long insisted the magazine underestimates his wealth.

Ye has alienated even the most ardent fans in recent years. People close to him, like Kardashian and her family, stopped publicly defending him after the couple’s bitter divorce and disturbing posts about her recent relationship with comedian Pete Davidson.

Carl Lamarre, deputy director of R&B/Hip Hop at Billboard, said many Ye fans were disappointed with him, but the implosion of his business endeavors was hard to watch for those who admired the rapper’s ability to achieve success. new heights of success beyond hip-hop. .

“He’s someone who potentially set the blueprint for a lot of musicians to come,” Lamarre said. “When you see someone reach their superstar level and transcend business, fashion and hit that billionaire point, for our community, for hip-hop, for African Americans, that’s very ambitious.

“But the same kids, even me who used to be superfans, you try to defend him but every day he gives you a reason you can’t,” Lamarre added.

The rapper, who has won 24 Grammy Awards, is steadily losing radio listenership and even his streaming numbers have dipped slightly over the past month. According to data provided by Luminate, an entertainment data and insights company whose data powers Billboard’s music charts, its streaming audience fell from 8 million in the week ending September 22 to 5, 4 million in the week ending October 20. the popularity of its on-demand streaming songs also declined over the same period, from 97 million to 88.2 million, a decline of around 9%.

Ye has earned a reputation for stirring up controversy since 2016, when he was hospitalized in Los Angeles due to what his team called stress and exhaustion. It was later revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

He suggested slavery was a choice and called the COVID-19 vaccine a “mark of the beast”, among other comments. He also came under fire earlier this month during Paris Fashion Week for wearing a ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt to the show and wearing models in the same design. After being suspended from Twitter and Facebook, Ye offered to buy Parler, a conservative social network without a gatekeeper.

The fashion, music and apparel world continued to distance themselves from Ye on Tuesday.

Foot Locker said it was cutting ties with the Yeezy brand and removing Yeezy shoes from its shelves and online sites. Gap said it would remove Yeezy Gap product from its stores by shutting down yeezygap.com. Universal Music Group, owner of record label Def Jam, said in a statement on Tuesday that Ye’s music and merchandise contracts ended last year. The MRC studio announced on Monday that it was putting a full documentary on the rapper on hold.

A Vogue spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday that the magazine and its global editorial director, Anna Wintour, have no plans to work with Ye again after his latest controversial remarks and behavior.

Jewish groups have highlighted the danger of the rapper’s comments at a time of rising anti-Semitism. Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, which on Tuesday applauded Adidas’ decision to drop Ye, said his organization had documented a threefold increase in harassment, vandalism or violence targeting Jews since 2015.

“We operate today in an environment where anti-Semitism is empirically on the rise,” Greenblatt said. “When people with big platforms allow anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry, it creates an environment in which these types of activities are given a degree of permission that they might not have had before. .”

Lamarre said he understands Ye is struggling with mental health and personal issues, but that only makes it more important to pause and reconsider giving him a platform for his offensive comments.

“We’re watching someone who was a beloved superhero in the African-American community spin before our eyes,” he said. “But he’s someone who kind of falls on his own sword.”
