The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Law goes into effect today, nearly a year after President Joe Biden signed the bill into law.

The law, which was first passed by the Senate in July, serves as a mechanism for the United States to prevent the entry into the United States of goods made by forced labor in Xinjiang, China. According to a summary, the bill “imposes import limits on goods produced by forced labor in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and imposes penalties related to such forced labor.

China has been accused of detaining more than a million Uyghurs and other predominantly Muslim minorities in the country’s far western Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, where they are believed to work under forced labor conditions, according to the US Department of Labor.

Fashion and retail industry leaders applauded the law in a joint statement released today by the American Apparel & Footwear Association, the National Retail Federation, the Retail Industry Leaders Association and the United States Fashion Industry Association.

“Our members have zero tolerance for forced labor and will continue to do their utmost to mitigate, eradicate, eliminate and prevent forced labor in their supply chains,” the groups said. “UFLPA is a key part of a broader global strategy and our common goal to end forced labor. We look forward to increased partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Government Forced Labor Task Force, as industry works to amplify U.S. government efforts to eliminate forced labor in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Major sports companies and firms such as Nike and Adidas – which manufacture in China – have come under fire in recent years from customers and human rights groups expressing concern over their potential use of forced labour. In December, the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) filed a lawsuit in the Netherlands, alleging that Patagonia, Nike and two other brands may have benefited from forced labor among the Uyghur population of China’s Xinjiang province. ECCHR has called on the Dutch Attorney General to further investigate these allegations of human rights abuses by these companies headquartered in the Netherlands.

Nike said it does not source products from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR). Nike said its Code of Conduct and Code Leadership Standards prohibit forced or contract labor. Nike said it found no evidence of the use of Uyghurs or other XUAR ethnic minorities in its supply chain.

At the same time, some brands that have taken a stand against the use of labor from the Xinjiang region have also faced criticism in China. In March 2021, Nike, Adidas and H&M came under fire in China for statements issued months earlier against alleged forced labor in the region. Some Chinese brand ambassadors ended their affiliations with those respective brands and social media users on Weibo accused the brands of smearing China.

Prada’s Spring 2023 menswear collection, “Prada Choices”, is inspired by fashion’s ability to express the mood of its wearer and create personal style. The line included iconic ’60s-inspired pieces that are Prada staples, including car coats, cardigans and suits. Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons also aimed to inspire nostalgia, whether through leather shorts, bodycon silhouettes or printed sweaters. This also included the exhibition space, designed to look like a house with large windows created from raw-edge paper.

When it comes to shoes, Union always opts for the daring. The “Breaking In” actress often favors current trends, like Magda Butrym’s flip flops, By Far and Gia Couture’s collab with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Kanye West Says Adidas Is Dropping His Yeezy Slides, Here’s Why https://adidastennishu.com/kanye-west-says-adidas-is-dropping-his-yeezy-slides-heres-why/ Fri, 17 Jun 2022 21:52:33 +0000 https://adidastennishu.com/kanye-west-says-adidas-is-dropping-his-yeezy-slides-heres-why/ Kanye West wants to change the sneaker industry. Kanye West wants to change the sneaker industry. Of course, it has already done so, rewriting the rules for how big brands collaborate with artists and expanding the scale of fashionable footwear into enduring commercial success. Now he is fighting to protect the creations that artists create in partnership with these brands.

West takes aim at sneaker manufacturers’ tendency to water down their collaborators’ designs for products they aren’t actually involved in. In this battle, he went up against Adidas, the company that produces his Yeezy sneakers.

In an Instagram post on Monday, West called out his collaborator about his Adilette 22 slide, a design he says is a rip-off of his own Yeezy slide, also made by Adidas. He took to his social media to appeal directly to Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted.

“I no longer stand for this blatant copycat,” West wrote on Monday, surfacing on Instagram to blast Adidas in a lengthy caption. Although his position has since been deleted, his Instagram once again erased, the message resonates.

“These shoes represent the disrespect people in power have for talent,” West wrote. “This shoe is a fake Yeezy made by Adidas themselves.”

All sneaker brands are guilty of this. Virgil Abloh’s effect on Nike went far beyond the projects bearing his name. Nike has a handful of non-Tom Sachs sneakers that look a lot like Tom Sachs sneakers – there were rumors that this offender harassed the artist. One of the benefits of collaborating with an outside entity is being able to borrow their magic. But there is a line between inspiration and an internal counterfeit. West is looking to redraw that line. It’s a worthy cause that can help shift the balance of power between artists and their corporate shoe partners.

Adidas Adilette 22. Image via Adidas

While the Yeezy Slide shape isn’t the newest, the similarities between it and the Adilette 22 are clear. The typical Adilette slide, a comfortable classic shoe, has a more traditional sandal-style footbed with a three-stripe piece forward. The latest take looks like a Yeezy-fied departure transformed into a one-piece and dressed in pale, earthy tones associated with West. The Yeezy Slide isn’t the only noticeable predecessor to the Adilette 22 – the first comparison that came to mind was KidSuper’s collaborative shoe with 3D-printed sneaker company Zellerfeld, which also used texture topographic. The Adilette 22 sits somewhere between the KidSuper shoe and West’s.

Adidas’ iteration on a long-standing existing product only came after the Yeezy Slide. The brand hadn’t set out to reinvent the Adilette like this until West energized this style of shoe. But the Adilette 22 slide that sparked West’s complaint isn’t even the most derivative design Adidas has produced using its aesthetic for non-Yeezy shoes. This has been happening for years.

In the mid-2010s when West was starting out at Adidas, there was a sizable line of sneakers online that closely resembled what the Yeezy line offered, although West had nothing directly to do with them. The Adidas Tubular Invader looks a lot like a diet version of the Adidas Yeezy Boost 750. The Adidas Tubular Shadow is essentially a budget and more accessible version of the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350. An Adidas designer was told to use the same last as the mega-popular 350 when building new shoes. This kind of riffing has long been an annoyance for West, though he hasn’t always made it public.

Adidas Tubular Shadow Knit
The Adidas Tubular Shadow reads like a Yeezy Boost 350 bootleg. Image via Adidas

Easily accessible Adidas Yeezy-esque sneakers made a lot more sense back when genuine Adidas Yeezys were so much harder to get. In the first phase of West’s long collaboration with the brand, his shoes were extremely limited. After signing with Adidas in late 2013, he started releasing products starting in 2015 with the Yeezy Boost 750, an almost impossible shoe to buy.

At that time, Adidas was filling a void by making shoes that looked like Yeezys. But now that Yeezys are being produced in greater numbers and aren’t too hard to get, West is filling that void himself. Fortunately, the practice of making diet Yeezys has mostly died out, despite the Adilette 22 slide and this next thing that looks like Foam Runner.

West himself has been transparent about his most commercial sneaker, the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350, which was inspired by an existing Nike shoe. His goal with the design was to subvert the ubiquitous Nike Roshe Run, that once popular minimalist model that is now mostly the subject of memes. He helped make the Roshe disappear, but his 350 also borrows from it, using a similar angled shape and chunky sole. The difference is that West pushed the shoe up, using advanced technology like Primeknit and Boost, rather than pulling it out. This distance in materials and taste helped the 350 eclipse the cultural impact of the Roshe.

Another difference is that West with this Adidas design was taking notes from a competitor of Nike. Pulling enemy shapes and tech is common practice in Sneaker Wars. Stealing its own catalog, however, as Adidas did with West’s work, feels more like a betrayal.

This episode with the slides does not reflect Adidas’ relationship with West as a whole, which has been extremely beneficial for both parties. They became long-term partners in 2016, when West signed a new deal that is expected to run until 2026. The Adidas Yeezy empire is a huge contributor to his billion-dollar net worth. West and the Yeezy line remain important to Adidas, a brand that currently lacks truly interesting shoes. His work at the brand was crucial to Adidas’ resurgence in the mid-2010s.

And this work wouldn’t be possible without the support provided by Adidas – many of the Yeezy shoes you love were created in part by Adidas designers. When Nike wouldn’t give West royalties, Adidas supported him by signing him to a new deal that offered more compensation and creative freedom. His achievements in sneakers would be far less without the support of Adidas. West himself said he needed the sneaker maker’s infrastructure on his 2015 song “Facts.”

Do you remember the “facts”? Here is the greatest artist of the 21st century coming out on New Years Eve to release a dissenting piece against a rival sneaker company. It’s a fierce level of loyalty that goes far beyond the standard press release copy about the “deep bonds” and “mutual respect” of Random Collaborator A teaming up with Random Sneaker Company B to make a series. limited by Unrelated Sneaker C.

This degree of connection and investment is part of what has made the Adidas Yeezy line so successful. He created the most interesting and innovative partnership between a sneaker brand and an artist in the history of footwear. With that, therefore, should come a more protected status for the Yeezy line within Adidas. West shouldn’t find out that a shoe that looks as much like his is hitting the market as it is hitting the market, since that should be allowed at all.

West’s message comes from a place of power in the industry, but it’s valuable to smaller designers who’ve worked with sneaker brands only to see them cling to their sauce long after a contract has expired. contract. This frequently happens to people with much less influence than him. What he’s asking is for a conversation to take place about this kind of work. If West can change that norm and change the industry again, pushing sneaker companies to a place where consent around similar designs is more common, victory will be more than just a personal victory.

Germany’s leading sportswear brand adidas continued to strengthen its international presence with specialized divisions and global collaborations. Now, The Three Stripes’ latest campaign connects with 11 iconic restaurants around the world, providing the opportunity to share stories about classic adidas silhouettes. The “adilicious” program includes releases with Bloody Angle in Japan and Ravi Restaurant in the United Arab Emirates. This time around, adidas took inspiration from Seoul’s oldest bakery, Taegeukdang.

Using the beloved adidas Superstar, Taegeukdang keeps it simple with a classic white, off-white and black color scheme. However, there are plenty of bakery references everywhere. Starting with the translucent outsole, the showcase artwork runs throughout the pair. Beyond that, a removable layer with a pull tab in white covers the shoe’s black stripes on the lateral side. When revealed, the stripes have unique gold text next to them that reads “SEOUL”, referring to the location of the bakery. Additional Korean hits land on the tongue and heel to complete the look.

The release kicks off in Seoul at Taegeukdang where bakery customers can order the shoes for the first time between June 16 and June 20. After this early access window, release is set to take place via adidas and select international retailers on June 29 at a price of €120 EUR (approximately US$125).

In other adidas news, the Tyshawn Low comes out in a “Sky Rush” blue.

Kanye has been relatively quiet on social media lately, but it seems the apparent copying of one of his sneakers got him talking about it on IG.

A few weeks ago the first images of the Adidas Adilette ’22 slide dropped. Many people were excited to get the slide because it looked like a Yeezy slide, which unlike the Adidas slide is hard to get and still sells out. The Adidas slide has since dropped and sold out, and is set to release in multiple colorways on June 23rd.

Ye took to Instagram to berate the German sportswear brand and call out its CEO Kasper Rørsted.

“IT’S YOU driving down the same street that Kobe passed on,” Ye said. “Maybe I’m feeling that Mamba spirit right now For Kasper I’m not advocating for this blatant copycat anymore For all of sneaker culture For every ball-playing rapper or even if you work at the store This is for anyone who wants to s ‘express but feel they can’t because they’ll lose their contract or be called crazy talent This shoe is a fake Yeezy made by adidas themselves I’m not talking to DC either Kasper come talk to me Alright Monday.”

What makes this interesting is that Kanye is in partnership with Adidas to produce and market his Yeezy branded shoes. Adidas does not own Yeezys and in the past has made shoes that look a bit like Yeezy’s.

Kasper hasn’t responded to Ye’s allegations and isn’t sure he will.

What to look for in men’s tennis shoes

The shoes you wear on the tennis court can have a huge impact on your ability to play. The surface of the tennis court is very different from the asphalt or concrete you are used to with regular running shoes, which is why it is important to have tennis shoes on your feet that have been designed for them. hard courts.

Shoes should be able to pivot and turn faster, without reducing the support they provide to your ankles. They also need to be grippy enough to accelerate off the baseline quickly, as well as provide enough glide to help you slow down again, making the perfect pair of tennis shoes to find. Here are some things to consider when you’re in the tennis warehouse looking for the perfect pair:

Adapt

The fit is probably the most obvious, because you don’t want to endure a few hours on the courts in a tennis shoe that leaves your feet in agony. As always, comfort is key, so you want to understand the shoe brands that make shoes the right fit for your feet, as well as provide exceptional cushioning and enough ventilation to keep your feet cool.

Sustainability

There’s nothing worse than buying a new pair of shoes, only to see them start to fall apart after a few months of wear. You feel like you’ve been cheated on, and rightly so. That’s why it’s worth asking about the durability of the tennis shoes you’re considering, so they don’t deteriorate quickly on hard court. Make sure the pair you choose has a durable sole, especially in high wear areas where extra durability is essential.

Traction

Shoes with good traction are essential in the game of tennis because changing direction quickly is almost as important as hitting the ball softly. After all, you can’t hit a winner if you can’t get to the ball in the first place. Most of the best men’s tennis shoes feature a durable rubber and tough plastic outsole, allowing you to traverse the court with speed and precision.

Support

Tennis is a sport that requires a lot of lateral movement, so it’s important to have a pair of shoes that provide maximum stability so you don’t get injured. Whether you’re buying a pair of practice tennis shoes or a competition shoe that you’ll only wear on game day, proper ankle support is essential for quality performance.

Bella Hadid made a case for socks and sandals as high fashion footwear as she left her New York apartment on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old stepped out in a formal ensemble with a streetwear twist. She slipped into a matching ensemble which featured a high neck spaghetti strap top which she paired with a matching knee length skirt. Both items in the set featured a contrasting print. The neutral-toned set featured brown and black stripes with lighter beige and white detailing. She layered her top over a white button closed up to her collar. The white shirt gave the look a professional touch and featured dramatic puff sleeves.

Klay Thompson is currently aiming for another title with the Golden State Warriors, and while another ring won’t make him Michael Jordan, he has tried to achieve that status in another way.

Game 2 was a resounding success for the Warriors. They beat the brakes on the Boston Celtics, using a dominating third quarter to blow the game away.

Curry was one of his regular games, finishing with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. He got decent assists from his supporting cast as well as Jordan Poole with 17 points, and Looney, Thompson and Wiggins all finished with double-digit points.

However, it wasn’t the Warriors’ offense that beat the Celtics, it was their stifling defense. That’s clear when you look at the box score and see that Boston shot 37.5 percent from the field and turned the ball over 19 times. Tatum (29 points) and Brown (17 points) were the team’s only real contributors on offense.

Although the Warriors have a lot of positives to take away from the game, there may be a sign of concern. Klay Thompson has yet to find his groove, shooting a combined 10/33 from the field, scoring just 26 points in the two games. It’s not the time to panic with Klay just yet, but he’ll have to take it back if the Warriors are to win this series.

Klay Thompson wanted to be the Michael Jordan of his brand

Klay’s performance should improve, and if the Warriors won Game 2 so convincingly as he cooled off, then perhaps it’s the Celtics who should be more worried about his cold streak.

Regardless of all that, Klay has already achieved a lot in his career. Additionally, he is also the face of the Anta brand, a decision he chose to make to be the head of brand in the same way that Michael Jordan is of the Jordan brand with Nike.

“I knew with the other brands in the United States, whether it was Nike or Adidas, it was going to be tough for me to get a signature shoe,” Thompson explained in 2017.

“I knew with Anta I would have so many creative inputs. Hopefully I was going to be Anta’s Michael Jordan one day. It really resonated with me, and knowing that I could be very important in China, that was really cool for me. The shoe market is sometimes overwhelmed in the United States, and I thought, “Well, why not branch out and be global.”

This reason is pretty solid all things considered. It’s different to be the biggest player of a particular brand instead of just lining up with all the other big brands that have multiple superstars tied to them. Klay’s Anta deal also earns him $9 million a year, which while it might not be the richest shoe deal, is still a substantial sum of money.

It’s Friday at 8 am on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles.

Two blocks are filled with people lined up waiting for eBay’s Wear ‘Em Out store to open. The hype is real, with exclusive pricing on collectible kicks for those who wear them out of the store. And speaking of hype, Complex caught up with Offset as he walked in wearing the friends and family exclusive Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Low “University Blue.”

What’s your holy grail sneaker?
My Jordan 1 from 1985. It’s my holy grail.

What do you think of retail stores forcing customers to wear shoes out of the store and, in some cases, even throw away the boxes when buying fashionable versions?
Honestly, I don’t respect it because first we have the choice to do what we want. Second, as a shoe collector, bro, it doesn’t matter if you have the shoe if you don’t have the box. Especially with our time and day, the packaging on the shoe box is crazy, so why would you remove the box? I get that you don’t want people to resell, but ultimately people will do what they want. You know, and shout out to the dealers because I love you all. Personally, being who I am, I can’t necessarily walk into stores when the release rolls around, and I don’t stand in line, so I like stockists.

We see you in so many rare sneakers, but which pair would you say you wear the most?
I like all my shoes as much as an ensemble collection and I wear all my shoes. A must-have sneaker would be my 85s because I feel like 85s never have to match the outfit and you could have sky blue with Chicago 85s and it’s always gonna be like a magical moonwalk through the crowd, you know.

Have you ever owned a sneaker that you were afraid to wear?
My Louis Vuitton Air Force 1, congratulations to Virgil. I was like RIP like he was gone so I didn’t want to wear them but me knowing my boy Virgil he would want me to wear them so I put them on and it’s my first day wearing them.

You just got your tattoo Virgil, can you talk about the influence he had on you and the sneaker world as a whole?
Virgil is the Basquiat of fashion, the images he paints and the way he puts together products and different materials are out of this world. He was open and gave a lot of knowledge. Some people sometimes keep their secrets and Virgil has always inspired and told us his. He always wanted you to be more creative and shared his story. They brought him to where he was and all the barriers he broke down and he wasn’t afraid of anything. He did. Whatever he put together felt like the biggest shit ever. And it was. And it’s. To be able to inspire young people so much and be able to change the game, no matter what anyone would say, it’s like Virgil did it differently. He touched everyone and made sure that when he was in those high positions, like at Louis Vuitton, he always showed up on the street and always came back where he came from, making sure we had everything we needed. ‘it was. He was just a big brother.

You have just attended the Balenciaga fashion show, how was this experience?
Very exclusive above all, you have to be there. You gotta know if, you know, yell at Demna because he’s just an amazing designer, man. Everything he brings is always new. It always turns heads in both men’s and women’s clothing. It’s always beautiful. This show is fire. They did it in the crypto building as the market is crashing right now. So it’s kind of genius to put on a show and the way he did it was just beautiful and organic. They had a collaboration with Adidas, kudos to Adidas. They had a heel that was for women, and they went up to the knee where they had the three stripes on the side. I feel like just incorporating this high fashion into this brand was just crazy.

Can you talk about some of the new risks you are taking in fashion and why?
I feel like everything I put on looks good on me first. Not everyone can achieve everything and I just have the advantage of being able to do it. And so I like to explore and challenge myself. If something isn’t so comfortable to wear, I feel comfortable in it because of who I am. I just think fashion is about taking risks, getting out there and doing something new. So you always stay ahead of the curve that way you lead and don’t follow trends because I never wanted to be a fashionable person because trends end so I’m here for the long term.

What awaits you musically?
I’ll be releasing singles in June, so that’s about to happen. Then I work on the album, a very crazy classic album like I did before, a little more turned, beautiful, and giving a lot of visuals. You’re gonna see me deactivate my Instagram soon because I’m coming.

Move over Yeezys, the adidas Adilette 22 slides are the futuristic new comfort to slide into. On June 1, the adidas Adilette 22 slides hit the internet, giving Adilette fans an updated iteration of the brand’s ubiquitous and popular slides.

Today’s best deals

Noticeably different from the brand’s current line of slides, the Adilette 22 Slides offer a design that will easily give Yeezy Slides and Salehe Bembury X Crocs Pollex Clogs a run for their money. A bit of a mix of the two, the new adidas Adilette Slides feature a wavy, textured surface with winding grooves similar to a topographic map.

They come in three colorways: Magic Lime, Desert Sand, and a swirling combination of the two. Each slide is also highlighted with “THE THREE STRIPES BRAND” text along with the Trefoil logo in black on the outside of the midsole.

A description from adidas’ website shares: “These adidas Adilette slides answer the question, ‘What would slides look like in space?’ 3D printed and inspired by human expeditions to Mars, they defy gravity with futuristic design details. The contoured footbed and soft rubber outsole ensure maximum comfort whether you’re in the shower or on the street.

Made with natural and renewable materials, they are also gentle on the earth, helping to end the problem of plastic waste – which is definitely a huge plus.

This version should prove quite popular, especially since people have turned to slides as their everyday shoe choice in recent years. That said, they are likely to sell out quickly.

At last glance, SPY editors spotted a few pairs of the Magic Lime/Desert Sand combination left on the adidas site. Interested buyers can also check out and/or sign up for a restock on Magic Sand and Lime below. So be sure to hurry while supplies last.
