Kanye West’s Donda Sports aims to compete with Nike and Adidas amid new brands
Kanye West doesn’t make empty threats, he vowed to compete with the two brands that ignored him and undermined him as a creative mind. Nike was the first and Kanye ended his relationship with them. After very lucrative years for Adidasthey also couldn’t keep the rapper happy and he isn’t taking matters into his own hands via Donda Sports.
The brand that initially aimed to represent professional athletes has taken a giant step towards competing against the two sportswear giants. According to TMZ, Ye’s company, Mascotte Holdings, filed new trademarks for wearables. This means Kanye is delivering on his promise as he aims to start selling his own shirts, jackets, hats, shoes, fanny packs, luggage, wallets, umbrellas and blankets, among other accessories.

In addition to these trademarks, Kanye West also bears the trademark ‘Dove Sports’. This is a label that will be specifically used for sports services such as training sessions, competitions, tournaments, camps, seminars, field trips and even traditional educational settings, according to the TMZ report.
In recent months, the rapper was known for signing major professional athletes such as Antonio Brown and Aaron Donald from the NFL. With his first NBA player, Jaylen Brown. Donald himself spoke to the media in May about this new opportunity and what it means for him.
Here is what Donald said about Donda Sports: “It was an opportunity that came to us, me and [my wife], and that made sense. Hearing the full spectrum of what they were going to bring, all the family vibe they had at Donda Sports. Not just me, but my wife is one of them.
“For me it was a no-brainer. I think it’s a hell of an opportunity to open a lot of different doors and a lot of different things outside of football that I want to be involved in, that I want to do, that my wife wants to do. So to be a part of that, and to be one of the best first athletes to be a part of that, that’s pretty awesome. We’re excited about that, and we’re going to see where it goes.
