Editor’s notes: It’s been 22 years since Nike’s comfort icon, the Air Presto, landed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In pure Swoosh fashion, the sneaker’s arrival marked a technological milestone – the next step in the possibilities of shoe technology.

An Olympic icon in its own right, the Presto, which was marketed as a “t-shirt for your feet”, has remained a fan favorite for its comfortable, no-frills comfort that offers an almost barefoot feel.

If you’ve ever slipped into a pair of Prestos, you’ll understand how they’ve remained a Nike staple and such a popular silhouette for the past two decades. Plus, the sneaker’s unique design inspired a new generation of near-foot styles in the years that followed and you’ll continue to do so for years to come – would we have the adidas Ultraboost without the Air Presto? I do not think so.

While the silhouette never really fell into oblivion, with a handful of new styles hitting the market as general release pairs, Virgil Abloh’s Off White x Nike “The Ten” handed the sneaker in the spotlight.

Arriving in two colorways, this collaborative remix proved to be one of the most popular styles in the pack, commanding huge aftermarket prices.

Now, just in time for the peaks of summer, the Air Presto returns, drenched in an intense monochromatic neon pink profile. Aptly named “Triple Pink”, this rendition is the perfect type of shoe for a vacation in the sun.
