Tina Knowles Says Beyoncé’s 5-Year-Old Daughter Rumi Loves Fashion

Tina Knowles has shared inside information about her grandchildren, whose parents are entertainment power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z. The Carters have three children, Blue Ivy, 10, and 5-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir. According to Knowles, despite her age, Rumi is already a fashion icon in the making.

“Rumi loves fashion. She chooses her own clothes,” Knowles Told Oprah Daily in a new interview. “We recently went to Disneyland, and she put on her Mickey Mouse shorts. Then she wanted to put on a sparkly print top that had the same colors. It actually looked really cute.

Apparently Blue Ivy disagreed with Rumi’s set.

“Blue was like, ‘My mom would be mad because she’s doing too much,'” Knowles said. “And Rumi said, ‘That’s my style.’ She is 5. I was impressed.

Having a flair for the dramatic in fashion is apparently a family trait. Knowles compared Rumi’s sense of style to her other daughter, Solange, who also grew tall when she started dressing up.

“She wore outrageous stuff, but she has an amazing sense of style,” Knowles said. “So you let them do their own thing. You can’t say, ‘No, it’s not okay with this or that.’

Blue, Rumi, and her twin brother, Sir, often model for Beyoncé’s Adidas x Ivy Park campaigns, so they’re already learning their craft.

Knowles says they are even asked to consult on adjustments for children.

“They have a definite determination about what they like and what they don’t like,” Knowles explained. “When Beyoncé does the first samples, they get them, and some things that they like, and some things that you can say are not their favorites. Kids like things that are comfortable. They don’t want anything scratchy, that’s too tight or too high around the neck. So they absolutely give their opinion on the brand. And they wear it – I mean, they’re still in Ivy Park.
